Drug trafficking and money laundering
Southwest T and his brother Big Meech co-founded a drug trafficking and money laundering business known as the Black Mafia Family while they were in high school. The organisation was founded in 1985 in Detroit, Michigan, USA. The brothers were skilled enough to expand the illegal trade networks to other states in the United States.
Within a short time, the organisation had managed to employ over 500 employees whose work was to traffic thousands of kilograms of coc*aine in different states.
The significant states which benefited from the Black Mafia Family commodity included Kentucky, Georgia, Alabama, California, Michigan, Missouri, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, and Tennessee.

In 2003, the brothers had a disagreement. Consequently, Terry Flenory moved to Los Angeles, California, USA, to establish his business leaving Big Meech in Atlanta. The duo continued with the business separately.
In 2005, the BMF brothers were arrested. They were charged with multiple incidences of coc*aine possession. After the trial, the BMF brothers were found guilty of running a criminal enterprise. As a result, they were each sentenced to 30 years in prison in 2008.
In 2020, the spread of Covid 19 in prisons made Big Meech's brother, Terry Flenory, and other prisoners to be released to home confinement in May 2020. Terry was considered due to his poor health condition. However, his brother, Big Meech, is still in prison, serving his sentence.
